Tips 4 Driving in de Fog

I live in Central California. We do not get snow. We get fog. We do not have snowy days. We do not have ice warnings. We have foggy delays. Yes, that is right. 2-hour fog delays for schools is quite the norm this time of year. With that said, here are some guidelines to make your trek in the fog successful:

1) Do not speed like a bat out of Hades. Some people like living. Ever notice how the majority of accidents are caused by numbskulls? Only, those numbskulls end up with scratches and bruises and the innocent bystanders perish? STOP SPEEDING IN THE FOG!!

2) Do not drive 25 mph in the fog. If you're THAT scared, stay home until the fog lifts.

3) Do turn on your lights. You would think this is a common thing to do. But no. People with gray cars driving in the gray fog still think it to be unnecessary to turn on their lights.

4) Do not turn on high beams. Do not turn on parking lights.

5) Do not attempt to pass, unless you can see clearly.

Now. Let's have a productive day, shall we?

No kidding!! I had a friend visit me when the fog wasn't bad at all. She nearly flipped us over because she slammed on her breaks when she hit a patch of fog. SERIOUSLY?!!! argh. Ah, well.

Hehe...looks like you might have had a difficult commute this morning?
We had a lot of fog where I used to live in Herald, out in the boonies. The farmlands just created tons of moisture.
The fog is awful! I mean when it's REAL fog, the kind you can't see even the yellow stripe on the road, much less any tail lights in front of you. It's extremely disorienting, and is as bad as driving in a blizzard because of the zero visibility.
I really don't like the fog at all, it's eery and annoying. =D That's one thing I definitely do not miss!

Oh, I remember the days of Tully Fog from living in the San Joaquin Valley for years. Couldn't see ahead, and when I'd come up to stoplights, I'd roll down my windows to listen for cars before going through, even with the light green. I definitely was wide awake and freezing as I traveled toward my destination.

When I was younger I remember having to go to school with all the windows down, and having to listen to cars. Its not so bad anymore. I think the worst part of the fog is the bad drivers...or scared drivers! Occassionally, it will be foggy near our house (I live 5 miles outside of city limits near fields, etc) but the sun will be shining in town! Crazy!

Hahaha.
Lucky for us when we do get fog here, it clears out before 7:30 am.
Thanks for the advice, 'cause fog and I do not get along.

I thought for sure we would have a fog delay Friday morning but no such luck. I couldn't see the house across the street. Fog is weird, mysterious, and I don't like it. You are right about the stupid, scared drivers. Stay home!
