Get a Date in 2008: The Results

As we proceed into the year 2009, I have nothing remotely important to say. No rants, no raves, no social work ramblings, no nifty bible scriptures, no transparent confessions. Nada.

Wait, wait, wait. Methinks that an update about Get a Date in 2008 is in order. How could I forget?! Today is indeed Dec 31, 2008 and the idea (among some close friends) was to secure a “date” by 11:59 pm tonight. What started out as a tongue in cheek joke actually came to pass. The results show all four succeeding in securing dates or boyfriends. My best friend accomplished a 5 yr goal by meeting someone and getting married. Always above and beyond, that girl.

As for myself, my date and I made multiple visits to Monterey, Carmel, San Jose, Hollister, Santa Cruz, & Moss Landing. We took a motorcycle ride, shot pistols, took airplane ride(s), ate sushi, he gave me flowers and technological gadgets, and took me on countless trips to every Target/DSW within a 100 mile radius of SC. Our cell phone bills have seen cheaper days. I won't bore you with the fascinating details. I will clue you in on a secret: I think my 2008 was pretty much fabulous from beginning to end, and Get a Date in 2008 was a success.

My Date :

Is a man with a plan? Check.
Bible believing? Check.
Understands Java, HTML, C++, Ruby on Rails, and any other computer science garb? Check.
Speaks Portuguese? Check.
Pretty much awesome overall? Hmmmmm. Check

Yay! Quickly moving into 2009. Now, help me think of a new phrase for the New Year. :o)

I'm steadily working on my financial, educational, personal, and spiritual resolutions, and am ready for the New Year. Merry New Year. Cheers. Here's to 2009!

You learned Portugese??? I can't even SPELL Portugese! LOL! Way to go!

Your 2009 phrase should be.

"2009! The Year of Chandra!" lol ... it shall be known throughout the land.

uhhh no. lol My man with a plan is in full possession of those qualities. He speaks Portuguese, etc. Not me. He's the one that took me to all of those aforementioned places. This blog is basically stating that Get a Date in 2008 was a success and why it was successful. :O)

I have a list of '09 themes on my blog. Best one of all - Don't whine, in '09.

Congrats on the date. Maybe you could talk David and Bryn into a double date. LOL

Chandra - Congratulations my friend! I think your date is pretty wonderful myself. Lucky guy!

In Dr. Laura's words, your phrase for 2009 should be: Get a Ring and a Date! LOL

CORRECTION:That last comment from Sam Hassas was actually from me: MONICA HASSAS Sorry for the confusion! LOL

Congratulations, Chandra! Glad you were successful in finding a Portugese-speaking, God-seeking, tech-loving, man-with-a-plan in 2008! He is a good one.... but, then again, so are you. Congrats again!

Hadassah: there's just something about a man that knows the ends and outs of the computer science world. Maybe it is their inate ability to craft a web page, build an application from scratch, or read html as if it is English. Yummy!! ha!!
